Within the municipal solid waste there are some kind of waste that due to their level of hazard, volume and generation frequency are classified as special waste. Some examples of this type of waste are rubble, furniture and old belongings, household appliances out of use, oil, batteries, etc. This materials collection due to legal or logistic issues should be done selectively. In the mid-nineties, the green points (or recycling centres) were created as a possible solution. They are facilities usually located on the outskirts of the towns and they are prepared to store these components. The citizens carry themselves their special waste to these points. To improve the collection service, other additional mobile green points have been located. The success of these facilities is based on the good service offered to the citizens and also on their adequate fixed or mobile location. In this paper, the authors present the results of the management efficiency of this special selective collection in towns of the Castellon region in Spain. For this purpose, a set of indicators have been elaborated to measure the efficiency of this type of facilities.
