The studies conducting to the degree in Industrial Design Engineering and Product Development (IDEPD) aim students to acquire, among others, skills related to the perception of subjective impressions evoked by the product design. In this paper, the results of a study conducted to discover differences between the subjective impressions elicited in students from the IDEPD degree and from other university degrees at the Universitat Jaume I, are presented. These subjective impressions are certain meanings and emotions evoked by a product highly influenced by trends (sunglasses). The study was conducted through the development of a web questionnaire distributed to the students. The participants assessed different subjective aspects of a set of images of sunglasses of different styles. The results show that the IDEPD degree students consider a greater number of factors that students from other degrees when globally assessing the sunglasses. In addition, some of these factors related to the overall assessment are different for both groups of students. Thus, for example, the IDEPD students relate the timelessness of the sunglasses with their overall assessment. On the other hand, students from other degrees relate the overall assessment of the sunglasses with their functionality.
