In the last decade, a major change in the availability of lighting technology has been in progress. The constant improvement in SSL technologies (Solid State Technologies), mainly LED, has been the fundamental trigger. However, another technologies such as plasma and induction haven also been developed. A dragging effect has been produced and popular technologies as fluorescents and metal halide lamps have substantially improved their performance. With all these possibilities, the projects for lighting optimizing can be a relevant source of saving for businesses. Currently, there is a huge amount of information available, most of it having a commercial approach. This paper is intended to show the features of the new technological developments with their pros and cons and possible risks, also expecting to provide a basis for a reliable information on projects for improvement industrial lighting.
