In the commercial documentation regarding the upgrading of industrial lighting systems it is stressed the comparison of luminous flux among lamps and electric consumption. However, these are not the only factors to take into account. Even in general lighting systems, there should be remarked aspects such as depreciation of luminous flux, visual comfort and expected lifetime. In the cases where luminaries are not upgraded, compatibility is guaranteed by additional factors. Control systems lower electricity consumption in the installation to the conditions of use and make better use of natural light, but it is not always possible to switch on the lamp or dim the light as fast and efficiently as required. In this paper discusses the criteria to be taken into consideration when considering a project of upgrading interior lighting in an industrial environment. Based on these factors and according to their importance for a specific installation, the technological alternatives to be considered will be determined.
