It is usual to see collaborative projects developed by de-localized creative teams. There are specific tools for project management, named Product Lifecycle Management tools. They are mainly focused on files management. They also allow defining lineal flows for project development, which are ramified into phases, milestones, tasks or reports in each sub-phase. These tools present strong working environments, but they miss of effective tools for managing the communication processes within the Project. During the conceptual design phase it is essential to stablish effective discussion lines in order to be able to elaborate a solid proposal which includes all the work team contributions. So, the numbers of corrections in the subsequent design phases will be minimised, and the other milestones delay can be avoided. This work propose to dynamice the communication processes during the conceptual phases by means of Social Networks as a complement to the PLM, since they are specifically built for assisting the communication of a large number of individuals. For this purpose, the paper presents a comparative study within the communication tools offered by Social Networks, by PLM and the different communication solutions commonly used in order to supply the cited lacks.
