Research projects present a set of distinctive features due to their higher risk level, financial needs or the different actors involved. Due to the importance and needs of this type of projects, there are multiple organizations and administrations, at regional, national and international level, that contribute to the project funding through different programs and calls for proposals. Both content and organization of documents required in each case is changing and diverse. Currently there is no generic model for documentation, which, in a way, makes it difficult to create the forms, especially for those actors with fewer resources as, for example, SME’s. This paper analyzes the different documents required in regional (Principality of Asturias)and national calls for proposals, with the aim of identifying common as well as different elements, in both form and substance. Thus, we aim to provide criteria which enable organizations to, initially, formulate projects with more complete documentation and, facilitate the subsequent development of applications for the different calls for proposals.
