Nowadays, collaborative projects are known as the act of taking a job traditionally performed by a designated agent (usually an employee) and outsourcing it to an undefined, generally large group of people in the form of an open call. Thanks to the Internet and the new technologies, that kind of initiatives has increased considerably in recent years. However, as it is a recent term, there is no widely accepted definition. Furthermore, all existing classifications of those kind of initiatives only consider the finality that they pursue. In this paper, an exhaustive study of those activities is carried out in order to classify them taking into account other features that are founded in these collaborative initiatives. Applying the concepts and characteristics related to traditional projects and project management, a new type of initiatives is founded, that could be called crowdprojects. However, most collaborative initiatives that have been studied in this paper cannot be considered as crowdprojects due to the fact that currently there is no methodology or a management system which ensures their success and encourage the development of such projects.
