Comfort conditions and activities that appears in hospitals are much stricter than those which are possible to find in other kind of buildings, involving higher quality standards and an intensive use of different facilities. From an economic point of view, saving energy measures that are proposed for hospitals can be divided in two big groups: those which pretend to renew traditional systems (heating installations, air conditioning systems, electric transformers, …) and those whose aim is to save energy and implant renewable energy systems (facilities automatic management, combined heat and power systems, variable frequency drivers, PV and thermal power, building’s thermal envelope renewal, …). Many saving energy measures that are proposed require high economic investments and entail benefits and risk that hospitals managers must take into account in order to prioritize the measures with respect to multiple criteria. This report proposes the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) as a useful tool for this managers in order to help them to take the decision in systematic and methodological way.
