In automatic milking systems milking process time is defined as duration from the instant when the identified animal within the milking box has been accepted for milking until the instant for release of the animal from the same milking box. There are several identify facts during this process some of which can be differents between differents manufactures of automatic milking systems. From these facts is possible to calculate the total and parcial times: Milking Process Time, Total Machine-on Time, Teatcup on Time, Pre-Milking Time, Teat Cleaning Time, Attachment lag Time, Teatcups Attachment Times, Cluster Attachment Time, Post-Milking Time, Non-Milking Occupation Time.
Three digital video cameras were installed recording the milking process. The video recordings were analyzed using software operating in Windows. An accumulative timing was realized selecting points identifiable on each milking. Times were calculated by subtraction of time registered on each point, so results obtained could be used to make comparisons between different systems.
