Incorporating renewable energy is a way to obtain sustainability in economic activities. It is possible to generate electricity from renewable resources at the same point of consumption, although it requires specific sizing techniques. Especially in off-grid systems, a detailed study of energy demand is needed. Moreover, it is also necessary to study the substitution of diesel, not only for mobility and transport, but also for agricultural machinery. In this context, the European project LIFE REWIND shows the technical and economic feasibility of on site energy generation from renewable resources, for agricultural activities, carrying out a demonstration in the wine sector. The approach to a specific sector allows for the establishment of common characteristics and to facilitate the replication of the proposed solutions. This paper shows various aspects of the project, such as its internal organization, technical and demonstrative means, prototypes and even the study of environmental and socioeconomic impacts. The results show that it is possible to avoid both the indiscriminate extensions of the electricity grid as the diesel generator sets. It also shows the technical possibility of using the surplus energy for on site hydrogen production, using it on the same farm for agricultural machinery or mobility.
