Professionals must face great changes and challenges therefore higher education schools always seek to develop skills that allow students meet the real needs of businesses today and be prepared for future needs. To do this, new mechanisms must be applied to generate applicable knowledge in the labor field and that facilitate the development of these skills. This research aims to analyze a methodological strategy with new learning-teaching methods, mainly project-based learning, used in industrial and systems engineering students of the last year of the University of Piura for the acquisition of skills in direction of projects. The research uses a mixed analysis that allows evaluating the last 5 years, where it has been applied this methodological strategy. It show results when evaluating the impact of the strategy on the development of skills, when checking if there is a relation between the academic level of the student and the level reached after the implementation of the strategy and when evaluating the differences between the student's perception of knowledge in skills and the real knowledge they possess.
