Nowadays, raw materials and critical raw materials shortage and their difficult obtaining for supplying economic consumption requirements, supposses a high increassein the depth of subsurface mines.
Air-conditioning system is essential for optimum development of health and safety labours in this mines, being one of the most important operating costs.
In this work, conjugated heat transfer phenomena in the host rock-drift system, produced by geothermal gradient, will be studied with computational fluid dynamics tools. The contributed thermal loads caused by this heat flux into the subsurface cavities, will be calculated as well as their influence on the air-conditioning requests for a given period. It's also characterized the influence of low conductivity materials used for drift coating.
