In this investigation it is developed a new product to be applied for soil stabilization. It is based on ashes processed from pyrolysis of wastes coming from greenhouse crops residues. These residues as byproducts are produced in an Integral Treatment Plant of Agricultural Residues at Paraje El Jabonero (Níjar, Almería, Spain). They are formed, in decreasing content, by tomatoes, zuccihini and peppers and constituted practically by a vegetal fraction (lignocellulosic organic material of slow microbiologic decomposition) and a minor proportion of inorganic fraction (earth material composed by the original soil accompanying the vegetal fraction).
The physico-chemical and mineralogical study of the obtained ashes processed under laboratory conditions are affected by the original composition of the vegetal residue, with several influencing factors such as the particle size, impurity content, specific surface, proportions of organic and inorganic fraction, pyrolysis temperature and processing conditions.
It was found that the optimum pyrolysis temperature range was 800-1000 ºC because the content of alkaline and earth-alkaline elements is higher, which favoured the cementing properties after hydrating, in particular for applications as soil stabilization materials in lineal works.
