This paper presents all the de development of mechanical design that have been realized for a semi-automatic industrial device whose functionality is to apply adhesive tape around a cylindrical body.
Nowadays, the applying process of several adhesive tapes is completely manual. This is a time-consuming process, hence it was divided into some repetitive auxiliary tasks, which require repeated operator movements. One of the project difficulty was the fact of the cylindrical body, where the tapes are applied, be very flexible.
Due to the study done it was possible to reach a conceptual idea of the semi-automatic device that allows to optimize the manual process. This device was idealized for four different lengths and for two different body diameters. In addition, were taken into consideration the adhesive tapes specifications.
The article presents all methodology of project followed (objectives clarification, project functions and specifications, etc...) and all critical thinking about the conceptual idea obtained, listing the critical key issues of the device, which should be analyzed on a physical prototype before proceeding to the manufacture of the device.
