    Abstract
Nowadays, some countries seek the conservation of road infrastructure, in order to achieve their sustainability and efficient service delivery, to obtain these results, a number of technical, administrative and institutional factors have to be taken into account. The road infrastructure management bodies are adopting an asset management approach for their projects and maintenance of the road infrastructure. In recent years, a number of recommendations have been made on the subject from the International Transport Forum - International Transport Forum (Crist et al, 2013), the American Association of State Roads and Transport Officials (AASHTO, 2011), Infrastructure Management (IIMM, 2014) and the international standard ISO 55000 (ISO 55000: 2014, 2015) and the optimization of the levels of service provided by the infrastructure during its life cycle "(Crist et al, 2013). Through this theoretical study and supported by expert judgment, an asset management model for road infrastructure in Colombia will be proposed.
