Abstract

The design and construction of rail vehicles is a very specialized activity, in which very few companies participate globally, which means that competitors are almost always the same in the procurement procedures that are carried out in the different countries of the world. The requirements of procurement procedures reflect the social, economic, technical and regulatory diversity of each country. The purpose of this communication is, based on several contracting specifications, to describe the bidding processes for the design and construction of rail vehicles, presenting, in general, the most commonly used award criteria, their ratings, risks, etc., so knowledge in this matter of the Project Managers and/or the Purchase Managers who in the future can be immersed in this sector and in these contracting procedures.
