Corneal biomechanics explores the architecture of the cornea by defining the physical and mathematical bases that permit to predict its dynamic response against physiological and/or pathological situations by means of the definition of a model or pattern of behaviour of the corneal tissue. The experimental models to study this behaviour are varied, ranging from simple models like in vitro tension to complex numerical methods associated with more complicated geometries (finite elements). This paper performs a review of the different methods that exist to analyze the geometrical and biomechanical behaviour against the uniformity that presents a healthy cornea as the deformation that presents a diseased cornea. This would permit to differentiate between both cases and predict the response to a surgical treatment of the cornea. Keywords: Corneal Ectasia; ophthalmologic surgery; geometric behaviour
