The work has been to design a HVAC system improving its environmental performance in an electric vehicle. For this we have analyzed the impact it produces, along its life cycle , the HVAC system of an existing electric vehicle, with the help of LCA methodology . Once this impact was known, Ecodesign techniques were applied to improve the HVAC system and get a new system, environmentally improved . To certify this improvement, the new system was design and prototyped, and the results of both were compared. The information needed to model the behavior of the HVAC system was made by acquiring data over trials with a sensorised electric vehicle under different weather conditions.
These tasks were covered by the consortial project " Green -Car Eco -Design " which aim was the inclusion of the environmental variable in the design stage (UNE 150301 ) of the main components of electric vehicles, and increase awareness of their environmental impact throughout its life cycle.
