The useful life of a building is a minimum of according to Spanish law 50 years. It is interesting to consider the possibility of using computer tools to model and optimize the resources invested in the construction process.
The posed estimate methodology focuses on the environmental impact in the process of building a structure of reinforced concrete reticular floor structure with columns and dedicated to residential use. The research is to perform the modeling of a rectangular building with dimensions 12m x 18m using different proposals and incorporating environmental impact through Life Cycle Analysis. The layout of the columns is fixed and is set in a grid of 6x6, standard dimension in residential construction.
Structural analysis and environmental impact assessment provide information for cost and LCA in each alternative. Finish with a two-dimensional representation of both variables together. The main objective is to demonstrate the importance of tools such as decision support provided it is done rigorously. Keywords: Waffle slabs; LCA; Construction; Structures; Reinforced concrete.
