The absence of protocols for the identification and assessment of risks related to the corrosion of reinforced concrete structures strongly influence decision making for maintenance or demolition of these structures which affect the useful life of the infrastructure subject to an acid environment.
This research focuses on identifying and building physical factors that affect the corrosion process and evaluation of the structures of the materials that make up the structures and establish metrics, response and control of the levels of risk to the infrastructure is subjected. This research is conducted in industrial plants with processes linked to acidic environments and is sponsored by the CONACYT, the Autonomous University of Coahuila through the department of construction projects and the chair of projects of the UPM to form protocols and criteria to assist in the integration of a framework for making decisions about the provision of use of the structure.
