    Resumen
For the city urban planning it is necessary to consider all the characteristics that define it by identifying and organizing the multiple parameters that create the road network. These are linked to form an optimizable structure, facilitating future processes, technical and political, involved with the space development and design of the space and the built environment of the city. The objective of this work is to carry out an analysis of urban road connectivity as an entry element for decision makers regarding city planning. It is offered to make a diagnosis of the current situation of the connectivity of the city, then a modeling of the urban area as an interconnected network with nodes and arcs with relevant information to characterize the system. Using graph theory as a modeling tool, different problems were identified, which were related to modularity of graph, centrality and the heights of nodes. To exemplify the use of the methodology, a comparative analysis was carried out between the cities of Valparaíso, Chile; and Valencia, Spain. Both cities have similar characteristics in regards its status as a harbor city, university and tourist center. The results indicate that the urban road network allows to reduce the low connectivity.
