The Spanish Center of Metrology (CEM) has actively collaborated in the management of the European project EMPIR 14IND14 (2015-2018): "Torque measurement in the MN-m range". The aim of this project was to develop new torque measurement systems for its use in nacelle test benches.
This communication relates, from the point of view of the author as collaborator, the experience of CEM in the direction, coordination and management of one of the main work packages of the mentioned project. The main objective was the development of a new torque transfer pattern and was one of the two key lines of action of the project.
Collaborators participating in the project included several organizations (public entities, research institutes and universities) of great international prestige, coming from Germany, Finland and Spain. Supervising the design work and the engineering proposals promoted by the different collaborators was a great challenge given the technical nature of the developments.
Thanks to the work plan and the supervision of CEM, all the objectives were satisfactorily completed, producing at the end of the project 4 different prototypes of the new measurement system, with different approaches, but intercomparable with each other.
