3D printing is driving the industrial revolution known as fourth or industry 4.0 and has meant the improvement of existing production techniques. One of the features of the development of this technology in recent years has been its accessibility since it have been developed partly within a framework of "open source hardware" that allows the communities of users to participate in the evolution of this technology and to reduce the costs of development. 3D printing in the education system can have many applications. This work shows the results of the introduction in the last years of this technology in the teaching of the technical degrees in the School of Industrial Engineering of Badajoz. This work has made students participate in the study and development of the printers through projects of degree and master. This has meant a revolution in the Graphic Expression in Engineering Area because most of the projects currently underway are oriented towards this field. In parallel, the creation of the FABLAB of the Eii makes it possible to reorient teaching towards a "project-based" approach.
