Radon is a radioactive gas that can be found in the interior spaces of dwellings, causing several hazardous effects to the health of occupants. It is expected the next incorporation into Spanish law of the Directive 2013/59/EURATOM against the hazards arising from exposure to ionizing radiation, which will include the limits and guidelines for protection against the inmission of radon gas in buildings.
This work proposes the conditioning of an already built house, with simulated radon conditions higher than limits set in the new legislation, with the aim of reducing radon concentration below such limits.
For the conditioning of this dwelling, at the levels required by the legislation, mitigation measures will be implemented in the house. These measures will consist in the installation of a system of air renovation under the dwelling, to avoid the entry of radon inside the building, and in favouring the flow of natural ventilation and the homogeneity of the indoor air, by relocating the interior distribution of the dwelling
