Building a concrete structure involves not only concrete components production (cement, aggregate, steel reinforcement). It also includes mixing, transporting and casting operations. In Spain, the environmental impact of these processes has not been widely studied, for the moment. This work analyses energy demand and carbon dioxide emissions in ready-mix concrete plants, concrete mixer trucks, concrete pumping and vibrating equipment, based on technical information from manufacturers. These results are of interest for its use in the sustainability assessment of structural concrete, according to the Spanish reality. Keywords: Ready-mix concrete; concrete mixer truck; casting; energy consumption; CO2 emissions; Spain
