Many efforts are being done all around the world to minimize water usage in several crops. In the urban lawns, there are multiple options that allow the minimization of water consumption such as using sensors to archive smart irrigation. Nonetheless, it is not enough, we need to work with new species which have lower water demand. We will work with a different combination of species with the purpose of maintaining the same quality in the urban lawns after decreasing the required water for its irrigation. Grasses of warm zones (C4) and autochthonous cespitose (C3) plants will be included. The objective is to find a combination of the aforementioned species, which presents better results than the combination commonly used in urban lawns, known as a standard mixture, in a future scenario with water restriction. Then, its response to the stress will be evaluated as the changes in their visual aspect, loss of coverage, and the weight after mowing. All these parameters will be evaluated during several months before, during and after the summer. To perform this study we have small plots (1.5m2) with different irrigation schemes. The different combinations of grass are growing in those plots in triplicate.
