Leonardo, in one of his Notebooks wrote "never will produce an invention more beautiful, or simpler, or more appropriate than those made by Nature, because in their inventions nothing is lacking, nothing is superfluous", while in another of them he manifests himself as a visionary ecologist affirming "there will come a day when men will be judged by the death of an animal as today the murder of a man is judged".
According to Professor Fritjof Capra, Leonardo "worked with an attitude of appreciation and respect for nature and underlying it is a philosophical position that does not conceive of human beings separated from the rest of the living world, but rather as fundamentally embedded in the total community of the life of the biosphere and in dependence on it. "
In this work we want to prove that Leonardo thought with the same spirit that today we would call environmental awareness or ecological thinking, introducing, in relation to the design of objects and artifacts, the background of Ecodesign or environmentally concious design, looking for learning from the Nature instead that dominate her, not only in his designs and projects but in his own way of life.
