Most companies agree about the importance of innovation as a source of competitive advantage, but not so many of them visualize design as a driver for innovation. Even though there are still few companies that understand design in all its dimensions, in many cases design is associated to product development and companies do not benefit from the full potential design offers to innovate in any area of an organization.
This article is presented in this context, defining how companies can integrate non-technological innovation through Human Centered Design. Based on how design is integrated within an a organization, we present a methodology that guides companies when seeking different types of innovation related to: Profit Model, Network, Structure, Process, Product Performance, Product System, Service, Channel, Brand and Customer Engagement.
