    Abstract
The car sector, considering the necessity of reducing the energetic demand and the environmental impact of the vehicles, needs to lighten their weight. The lightening strategy to follow, so as in other sectors, is based on the massive usage of plastics and composites – which gives a bigger potential of lightening than steel and alloys. However, the improvements that can be achieved when lightening the weight of the vehicle – reduction of fuel consumption and pollution in the usage phase- can be counteracted if those materials which make possible this improvements are simply placed in a dump at the End Of Life (EOL) of the product. This communication analyses the End of Life and dismantability of an actual C4 Picasso door to compare it with a door made of composite material. This way, it will be determined if the strategy of lightening to apply in the car sector is more respectful with the environment than the actual situation. As well, the best dismantling and EOL strategies will be identified for the car components made of composite materials. Keywords: disassembly; end of life; recycling; reuse.
