One of the biggest challenges faced every day by organizations is to offer their products and services with the combination demanded by the eco-efficiency, that means satisfying human needs, enhancing quality of life, reducing environmental impacts at a competitive price.
The design for the life cycle is focused on discovering and reducing environmental impacts, not just transferring them to other media or activities, but helping to find new ways to get products and processes more environmentally friendly.
This article presents the results of field work along a pilot project in the furniture industry. It develops the case study to a representative product of this sector, backed with the methodology of life cycle assessment and software SimaPro, concluding with the analysis of the outcomes in social, environmental and economic areas.
