    Resumen
Environmental studies of electronic products tend to point out the high contribution of product use in the total life cycle impact. Many products have energy efficient modes of use. Although their operation is commonly found in manuals, consumers do not normally make use of this. User behaviour tends to be more complex and less rational. Recent research shows this situation and the difficulty of its analysis. These references propose new design methodologies, techniques, good practices and examples. This paper assesses these methodologies, giving an overview on how their application could help improve new product’s eco-efficiency. It also defines a line of further work to aggregate the concepts presented in these methodologies by using a systems view. Keywords: design methodology, design for X, sustainability, user behaviour, eco-efficiency
