The Spanish footwear industry in one of the most disintegrated of the nation’s industries. Currently, the increase of imports and the fluctuations of the economy have reduced the profits created by this industry at the same time that employment levels in the sector have decreased. In order to face this crisis, it is proposed that eco-design could provide a competitive advantage.
To design a product that respects the environment there are various qualitative and quantitative techniques that allow us to understand the present situation of the product in question and to identify one or more phases that produce a greater impact on the environment. In this study a lifecycle analysis has been developed following the indications of regulation ISO 14944:2006, from which possible alternatives are proposed in order to develop an eco-redesign of the footwear under study.
