Although the manufacturing process for metal removal has changed considerably in recent years with the addition of electronic controls that manage the process, this labor is still excessive time-consuming. This paper seeks to show that artificial intelligence can be incorporated into the process for its management, thereby reducing dependence on human decision machining and improving results. The development consists of a module of data acquisition and processing (DSS) recorded by sensors, an expert system (SE), which communicates with the DSS through an interface that also serves to communicate with the user. The expert system has an inference engine designed by techniques of Artificial Intelligence (AI), based on an "effective action" algorithm that relies on modus ponens rules, and a strategy of inference " target rules-oriented. "The result of tests carried out have demonstrated that it is possible to monitor real-time manufacturing process using AI rules integrated into a SE.
