A product widely used in industry is painted steel sheet. For correct paint adhesion is necessary a particular texture is present in the sheet surface.
While the literature on the laminated sheet, especially steel, is very large, studies of texture transfer in sheets are used scarce and with a lot of simplifications. Therefore, a methodology that studies the influence of certain parameters in the transfer of texture in rolled sheet steel is presents in this paper.
The first phase of work involved the creation of finite element model (FEM) to reproduce the texture transfer in rolled sheet steel. For the development of this model, parameters have been considered such as thickness, roll diameter, friction coefficient, type of texture (draw), rollers deformation... The second stage has developed a predictive model, using data mining and artificial intelligence, to propose the optimization of the texture transfer process in steel sheets.
