The power use of the forest or agricultural biomass has a series of disadvantages with respect to other fuels, as they are his low density and its difficulty of handling. The
torrefaction is a process of transformation of the biomass that makes possible to obtain products of better quality energetics, major density and major added value that the
original raw materials. In the present work, the technical and the economic bases to install a torrefaction plant are determined. The premises and studies for the most suitable construction of the
torrefaction plant of 5 t/h of capacity, as well as its viability from the technical and economic point of view, and zones for their location, will settle down, with the purpose
of to move to the private initiative to use these important biomass reserves existing in the zone.
Keywords: biomass; solid biofuels; torrefaction.
