Using solar energy to heat water is commonly used in the building industry and has countless benefits. Obtaining usable energy from an endless source such as the sun lowers
the use of limited resources and provides a renewable energetic alternative.
Southern European countries have plenty of time during which the solar energy collection is very high, which can be used as a source of domestic hot water, it can not be used as a source of heating.
This study presents the option of storing heat energy, using storage systems, in order to be used efficiently on demand, either through low temperature systems and/or high energetic efficiency systems.
The aim of this study is to present the technical issues involved in generation, storage and transformation of solar energy; analyzing spatial requirements and expected energy savings, as well as studying the costs and expected savings considering the current prices in Spain.
Keywords: energy; HVAC; storage; solar; renewable, seasonal storage.
