Nowadays the industries in general and the steelmaking in particular, are the most waste industries generators in the word, this represent a strong impact in the environment.
One way to be friendly and meet the sustainability principles demanded by the European Union today, is to establish a waste management system and several tools for its total evaluation.
These tools are based on a methodology for the integrated waste management that includes a system of indicators to assess the efficiency of above-mentioned management.
The author identifies as from the point of view of its generation as external reuse and recovery, a series of measurable indicators that are representative of the level of efficiency in the management of waste from a process, these are defined at two levels, environmental and socioeconomic status.
Based on these indices is developed a methodology for decision support which select the best process for each waste to be treated according to their characteristics, selecting from the possibilities of reuse or recovery identified the most feasible and comparing with other reference facilities.
