The indiscriminate use of renewal water in swimming pools results in some environmental problems. The main water consumption in pools is due to evaporation losses and
accumulation of certain chemical substances, one of them is the isocyanuric acid. The isocyanuric acid concentration (ICN) accumulated in swimming pools, as result of disinfection water by means of organ-chloride derivatives, cannot remove through conventional physicchemical treatment. Therefore, it must perform a purge and daily renewal of water in the glass, usually around 5% of the total volume of the pool.
We have studied the water in two sports centres in order to see how different parameters affect by-product formation, and remove them.
