The students of the “Conceptual Design” subject which is one of the subjects of the Engineering in Industrial Design and Products development degree at Jaume I University have taken part this academic year 2013-2014 in the SHOESTORMING competition that the shoes enterprise Art Company B&S celebrates each year. The final aim of the competition was to elaborate a design concept model that expressed the Art shoe qualities: Handmade, flexibility, recyclability and lightness. The winner model will be used in the marketing campaigns of the enterprise. To adapt the subject to the enterprise specifications and to its proposed terms has implied a special effort from the subject professors. The students have also made a conceptual effort due to they must think about a concept, not in a product. However, it was considered a good opportunity for the students. In this work, the advantages and disadvantages of the applied methodology and the final results are analyzed in order to provide teaching guidelines and suggestions for similar contexts.
