NUEVA ESTACIÓN DE AUTOBUSES DE PAMPLONA: UN PROYECTO DE CONCILIACIÓN DE INFRAESTRUCTURAS CON EL PAISAJE Y EL PATRIMONIO HISTÓRICO
Resumen
The necessity of performing important infrastructure projects inside the cities always has been a difficult issue, mainly if the underground of the affected area count with
archaeological remains that have historic significance in the city. Most of times, the appearance of these old structures ends up aborting the performance, but some others, they can get to became a very good opportunity for performing a new construction with great added value.
Seventy-three years after Pamplona inaugurated the first spanish bus-station, it returns its relevancy with the construction of modern facilities. Close to the Citadel, declared as a Cultural Interest Monument, a great green mantle replaces an asphalted space of more than 35.000 square meters. It keeps under its surface the new bus-station at the same time that allows the reconstruction of the Ravelin of Santa Lucía, defensive placement of the fortification constructed by king Felipe II, who unfortunately had been destroyed some years before to allow the urban expansion outside the fortress.
This is a complicated project that has been evolved and improved with time, where new constructive solutions have allowed the attainment of a work turned a challenge in transport, mobility, environment and heritage.
