Water is essential for life, people’s wellbeing and society’s development. The population growing and its economical activity is associated with an increase in water demand and its pollution.
Water pollution produces a lot of fatal water-borne diseases and it considerably damages the environment. The access to an improved water source and a suitable sanitation is one of the most effective measures to reduce the mortality in developing countries. Wastewater treatments are scarce in most part of rural areas, specially in developing countries, causing water sources pollution, and damaging consequently the environment. Water obtained after sewage treatment provides a very important water resource that can be reused as irrigation water.
The aim of this paper consists in the design of a domestic wastewater treatment system, characterized by its simplicity for small rural communities in developing countries. These facilities will allow the reuse back of treated water for irrigation, minimizing water bearing pollution and improving its economic and social development.
