CARACTERIZACIÓN DE LOS SISTEMAS DE INDICADORES DE SOSTENIBILIDAD Y SU EVOLUCIÓN
Resumen
This communication presents an in-depth analysis of the main Sustainability Indicators Systems (SISs), which has highlighted three stages in their evolution:
A first stage, in which the “SISs” had International scope (OECD, UN…). They were predominantly of environmental nature, very theoretical and barely developed.
At the second stage the SISs had national and regional scopes. They incorporated social, strategic and policy nature variables. They take account independently of the economic, environmental and social dimensions.
The third stage, characterized by the development of the three dimensions in an integrated way. New indicators systems with local and territorial scope appeared, with greater social participation in their development.
The characterization of previous models, in each stage, allows the design and the development, with historical perspective, of new models of Indicators Systems, which must
be based among other elements, in a greater extension of the use of indicators, and the uses of the computing resources for the organization and diffusion of the information, like the semantic WEB.
