Industrial activities, as a source of development of the society, are not free of problems and crisis. In the case of mining, the extinction of resources, the environmental requirements and the new needs of the population have driven to the end of the exploitations, with the following degradation of the geological and mining estates and assets. Also social surrounding is deteriorated.
Before this circumstance, the necessity to revitalize affected areas by closed or restructuring processes, like old coal and fluoride Villabona’s mine, in the central zone of the Principality of Asturias, is raised.
The project is directed to the maintenance of industrial patrimony and its restructuring into historic and mining patrimony like infrastructure to service to the preservation and
investigation of the culture and tradition of mining preparing and making the most of the facilities like a Fluoride Mining Interpretation Centre which purpose is to improve the polluted environment for mining industry and to promote this zone that is fallen into decline for the consecutives close of the mines.
