| dc.description | La presente comunicación realiza una revisión de los sistemas de indicadores utilizados para cuantificar el impacto ambiental de un proceso o producto, con el objetivo de evaluar la sostenibilidad de las diferentes alternativas de fin de vida de los envases. Asimismo, se revisa la importancia de los planes empresariales de prevención (PEP’s), como herramienta de evaluación de los residuos de envases y embalajes. Esta información tiene un doble interés. Por una lado ayudar a seleccionar la tecnología de tratamiento más adecuada para los residuos generados tras el uso de determinado tipo de envase, y por otro, asistir en la selección de materiales y técnicas de envasado que permitan minimizar el impacto de los residuos generados. | dc.description.abstract | This communication consists of a revision of the indicator systems used to quantify the environmental impact of a process or product, to assess the sustainability of different alternatives of packaging end-of-life. Furthermore, the significance of the business prevention plans (PEP’s) as a tool to evaluate packaging waste is studied. This information has a double interest. On one hand, helping to select the most appropriate treatment technology for the waste generated after the use of a specific type of package and, on the other hand, supporting the selection of materials and packaging techniques to minimize the impact of the generated waste.
