Sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) provide proper solutions for the sustainable management of the hydrologic cycle in urban catchments. The SuDS analyzed in the present paper are comprised by a drainage network which collects runoff and conveys it to an underground attenuation storage tank, from where it can be reused for irrigation of green areas. The study addresses the design of this type of SuDS for urban parks considering irrigation strategies. Results show that the adopted irrigation criteria impact not only in the design of the optimum storage capacity, but also in the observed values for the main variables such as irrigation requirements, volume of water conveyed to the conventional sewage system, average soil moisture or deep percolation.
