    Abstract
Wind power plants have become a significant energy source for the electrical generation. Because of this, it is needed that this renewable resource participates in services such as regulation and support of the frequency system. In recent years, different approaches for frequency regulation with wind energy have been developed, some of them based on the fast change of their rotor side converter active power set point. However, those solutions have an important restriction: rotational speed gives up its optimal value as the additional electrical power is supplied to support a power imbalance. In this work, an aggregated wind - hydro strategy is proposed. This way, hydropower plant provides additional energy to restore wind turbines back to their nominal active power set point. This improves the frequency shift obtained with respect to previous proposals. Simulations have been performed on an electrical system formed by thermal, hydro and wind power plants.
