Parametric designs allow to modify the geometry of the designed pieces by changing the values of the considered parameters. Thus, in comparison with traditional CAD models, they open several new work lines, such as the optimisation of certain key features for the final product.
This work explores another field of possibilities allowed by this type of models. Thus, this study is focused on the opportunities that parametric models offer to final users in a scenario where they can modify some parameters, thereby including certain level of customisation to the final product. By using Grasshopper, a graphic programming language included in Rhinoceros, adaptable designs are developed. Then, the customised models can be obtained by additive manufacturing without loss of productivity with respect to totally standardised approaches.
