    Abstract
    Earthquake catastrophes should not be measured for the magnitude of the event but for the vulnerability dimension of the exposed agents, it is known that the risk factor is outside the domain of the human being, according to the state of knowledge of the related sciences to your study. Because of its null prediction and control, it is necessary to recognize the factors that make a city more vulnerable. The reduction of the effects of traditional systems with the responsibility of recognition, which is a multiple and interdisciplinary responsibility in concordance with the diversity of factors that are involved to conceive the least vulnerable environment. The present research work was developed in the country of Ecuador, in the city of Pedernales, after the earthquake of magnitude 7.8 Mw., Occurred on April 16, 2016, through the application of urban analysis methodologies and the use of geographic information systems for the determination of the possible correlation of post-earthquake damage with urban behavior modifiers, establishing the palliative basis for the mitigation of vulnerable cities.
