According to the International Labour Organization, every year there are more than 2.3 million deaths in the world related to accidents and occupational diseases, which is equivalent to more than 6,300 deaths per day, most of them take place in developing countries. In economic terms, these accidents have a global impact of 2,120 million euros per year. In rural areas, this problem is increased by the scarcity of resources and tools for prevention and protection against occupational risks. In this context, it is essential to identify and measure the risks associated with the assembly and handling of industrial plants, in order to define effective risk prevention strategies and instill the prevention culture as a tool to avoid accidents and occupational diseases in employees. This work aims to contribute to solving this problem by designing a safety plan for a rural water treatment plant that guarantees adequate conditions for workers in the development of their functions, quality health surveillance and enough tools to protect themselves against the main hazards of the process
