    Abstract
This article describes the methodology used and the progress of work regarding sorghum crops for use as an energy crop appears. The purpose of this communication is to develop an agricultural system on-site energy use of biomass produced from energy crops in central Spain. The project is located in the “Finca El Encín”, located in the town of Alcala de Henares (Madrid), and includes irrigated crops. Current uncertainties about climate change, increasing energy demand, geopolitical instability in countries producing fossil fuels and foreseeable exhaustion of fossil resources have led to intense activity in the field of renewable energies. The energy use of biomass produced in situ in a farm has many advantages, as it would optimize energy demand with the design of production and distribution and logistics, adapting to the energy needs of the same. The origin of this proposal lies in the convergence of two areas of emerging interest: convenience, widely supported, to promote new types of agricultural production that will result in sustainable rural development in Spain, and the need to replace energy demands fossil with renewable energies, based on the benefit of the environment and the socio-economic environment.
